Decorating.
How do you make your home look its best while reflecting your personal sense of style? Just a little planning and by using similar steps used by professional home interior designers, you’ll have a much greater chance of success.
Start by looking at the colour palette of your walls and where you can begin to create a fresh look just by decorating.
This doesn’t have to be drastic especially if you have always reverted to either white (with a hint of) or magnolia. These are great colours if you have other ways of bringing colour into your room but if you haven’t then, I would suggest that you take the plunge and find a paint colour you love and that suits the room and the decor.
I would also suggest that when decorating you continue the paint onto the cornice and skirting board which will elongate the particular walls you decide to work on – this will introduce individuality and create an interesting space. Not every wall needs to be painted in the same colour and you can create a feature wall by painting or papering one only.
Wallpaper is a fabulous way of giving a room grandeur – I find the best way to use a patterned wallpaper is to use only on a couple of walls marrying up with the paint colour you decide on.
If you have uneven walls, lining paper or a heavier duty wallpaper can be applied – You can then paint and this will give a subtle but beautiful effect.
